Fashionistas

After enjoying a much-needed break for the New Year’s holiday, I’m back at work and happy to be around the energy of my class. With almost ten days of not seeing any children, I forgot how excitable they are, and how contagious their positive energy is.

Of all the jobs I’ve had, there is nothing that compares to working in a preschool classroom. One thing is certain, there is never a dull moment. You are never bored, and there is never a moment to relax. The keep you on your toes and they remind you that life is for living.

At nap time I watch snow fall outside the windows, while snuggled up on a child's bed, loving the warmth that is absorbed into the mats from the heated wooden floors.

I know my students better than ever, and I look forward to completing the school year with them. It’s hard to believe that in just four months I will have been in Matsumoto an entire year. I’ve spent such an incredible amount of time with my class, and I’ve become so used to the young children they’ve grown into over the year, that its easy to forget that they were hardly older than babies when I began.

And then I see the pictures, the ones that will always put a huge smile on my face.

I like to call this set of photographs, Clothing Complications.

While it’s incredibly humorous, it shows much far they’ve come this year. For at least the first six months of the school year, the majority of them had no idea how to dress themselves. Everyday I found myself laughing at their backwards pants, their inside-out shirts, and shoes they unknowingly wore on the wrong feet. It wasn’t even uncommon for them to dress themselves after nap time in their friend’s clothing. While this rarely ever happens anymore, I still come across the occasional clothing complication, and it reminds me that although they’ve learned so much this year, they’re still my Aurora babies.

The latest fashion trend- wearing your pants backwards.

A new approach to the hat.

Socks and shoes on both feet and hands.

My favorite clothing complication will always be the students' attempts at wearing their clothes under their pajamas, just so they don't have to change before and after nap time.

Poppin collars, backwards : )

Another sneaky attempt at not changing for nap time. It amazes me that they have no care for comfort.

Where to begin….

When everything you put on is worn incorrectly :D
