Hangin' with Seahorses

My Little Ocean

For May and June our focus has been Under the Sea. The kids have all made crafts as a class and learned about a variety of ocean animals, but I wanted to give them the opportunity to show me what animals they were really interested in. I gave each child a piece of cardboard, and over a week they built their own little miniature versions of our class ocean mural. As they completed them, they shared with the class at the end of the day what was in their ocean.

And We Sailed on to the Sun

This past week we added a yellow submarine to our ocean wall. We have been listening to The Beatles song, "The Yellow Submarine," and I wanted Shooting Star to have a visual of what the lyrics were about. We made a giant submarine, and then all the kids made their own individual submarines. My favorite thing about the project was seeing the class work together on the big submarine. Everything turned out great and its the beginning of our transition into a Beatles theme for July.

"And our friends are all onboard,
many more of them live next door.
We all live in a yellow submarine."
